Mightypop is back from a much needed vacation and ready to hit the Seattle Square this saturday. Local DJ’s will be spinning the soundtrack while you shop for vintage housewares, local designed clothing and get some fantastic chow from mobile food vendors like Skillet. It’s going on in Occidental Park inbetween 11-5am, be there!

The first time I saw a Mr. Frotheringham illustration was on the cover of Mudhoney’s “Piece Of Cake” CD in 1992. I imagined Ed having a half broken, leaky pen that gave him his beautiful thick/thin line quality. His work inspired me to experiment with pen and ink more as well as color blocking. Fast forward to today and Ed is still working in Seattle for big clients like the New Yorker, Washington Post, Men’s Journal, Scholastic and many others. If it says “Mr. Frotheringham”, you know it’s quality!

Next time your in Vancouver go visit the Convention Centre and view the new Digital Orca sculpture. the artist is none other than Douglas Coupland, author of Generation X, Microserfs and many more. Pearl Jam’s 10 Club is presenting the Rock Art & Poster Convention this Sunday the 23rd at the Showbox at the Market. Some of the best poster artists in the business will be there including Ames Bros., Brad Klausen, Dan Stiles, Guy Burwell, Jeff Kleinsmith, Jeff Soto, Jesse LeDoux, and Munk One. Lots of amazing limited edition posters will be available to purchase at this one-time event only.  Did I mention it’s FREE? I’m there.

I’m going to check out the Parskid “Isolated Frontier” solo show this week. The show opening is on May 6th at the Flatcolor Gallery in the Pioneer Square area. I look forward to seeing where he takes his characters next.

The Vermillion Art Gallery is showcasing a Sasquatch Posters Exhibition featuring screen-printed posters created for acts performing at the Sasquatch Music Festival. The free opening night is May 1st featuring DJ Darwin of Mad Rad!

This spring Ray-Ban is introducing a limited edition sunglass series titled Rare Prints. They commissioned poster artist Ames Bros to create a poster inspired by one of the Rare Print styles. They only hand-printed a small run of 150 pieces, making them rarer than the glasses.
