Nemo and Pattern People present BENEATH THE SURFACE: Flora, Fantasy, and Fable in Surface Design, This show highlights the work of influential, contemporary surface designers through the mediums of wallpaper, prints, and 3-dimensional objects. The Opening reception is on May 1st at Nemo’s Studio in Portland.

Society Co. presents “Bad Ideas“, a collection of original posters by local Northwest designers featured in the debut issue of this biannual zine. The zine release party is on April 30th and you can get all the info here.

One of my favorite Flickr stops is Slightly North’s photographs of Seattle’s daily happenings and hidden treasures.

Last night I was scouring the Designed By Humans site, looking at their T-Shirt sale. I found that I was drawn to the shirts designed by Jared Nickerson and his J3 Concepts. Jared has also done some cool designs for Neff Headwear, Kings of Leon and Kidrobot.

Sirlin Enterprises did a pretty fresh graffiti piece that will be available as a design option on a MasterCraft boat starting on May 1st. 

For all those heading up to the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC, don’t miss the “State of the Art” event while you’re there. Showcasing over 30 artists in a 150 plus piece installation complete with DJs and livepainting.

Seattle’s Manik Skateboards has some new deck graphics available in April. Also Manik and Goods are presenting the photography of Jon Humphries with a show opening on April 18th. Jon has been shooting the NikeSB skate ads for a while now.

April 18th is the official Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA.  Lots of free live music will be playing in stores around the northwest including 90′s rockers Sweetwater at Easy Street Records on Queen Anne.

Fremont Studios is hosting the Seattle Fashion Week starting on Thursday. The finale show features Project Runway 5 contestant, Blayne Walsh, giving Seattle a sneak peak at his fall/winter 2009 collection.
