Saturday January 31st is the Finale of the Comixtravaganza II event at the Seattle Central Library. One hour comics with Davey Oil, hidden cartooning secrets with Linda Medley and a Comics Live! performance round out the days events.

The renovated OKOK Gallery in Ballard is now Ambach & Rice, and is celebrating a new beginning with a gallery opening on Jan 24th. The solo exhibition titled “Dust” features Dutch artist Bas Louter.

Started in Portland in 2004, UNKL is the collaboration between Derek Welch and Jason Bacon to turn their character drawings into something more than ink on paper. Their first run of 1,800 figures sold out in a month. I personally am a fan of the cloned Tinpo characters.

Seattle artist Parskid has a new print titled “Drink from the rivers end” that’s available now on his site.

Obama “Hope” poster designer, Shepard Fairey, makes an appearance on the Comedy Central show The Colbert Report last night. Very cool!

“The Hotness: A Sort of Retrospective by Joe Park” is the first installment of Cornish College’s Artist Retrospective Series. The exhibit captures how Jo has evolved from art school days through to his current work.

Nice urban folk art style coming from Portland’s Ryan Bubnis. He uses acrylic and ink on paper to create his abstract patterns and faces.
