The Frye Museum is exhibiting 40 years of work by R. Crumb, a pioneer of underground “comix” and founder of Zap Comix, starting on January 26th. Patrick Rosenkranz will be lecturing about Robert Crumb at 2pm.

The City of Seattle is throwing down big money for designing sidewalk art at three locations. They are looking to select one artist to develop permanent art inlays into city sidewalks. The budget: $30,000! The deadline is Feb 29th, so get the low down here.

Looking down the beverage isle at the supermarket, one soda has stood out to me lately. Dry Soda. It’s packaging is super clean and simple, using solid colors and leaving the bottle mostly clear. Kudos to Turnstyle Design in Ballard for the nice design work. Have you tried a Kumquat Dry Soda? tasty.

The Together Gallery in Portland has a new show, “Look What You’ve Done”, which features new works by: Parskid, Jeremy Ehling, Bigfoot, Julian C., DuronEgo, 2H, Matt Kelly, John Radtke, Pony Graves. It will be up from January 5th through January 30th, so don’t miss it.

Looks like an interesting show is in the works at The Anne Bonny on Capital Hill on Jan 11th. The Anne Bonny will be covered with 2′x2′ panels that the artists will be using paint, glue, collage and everything else to complete the installation. The artists include: farmer bob, claudius phaedrus, canvas streets, no touching ground, nko, kinoko, scntfc (1/2 of static invasion), dave bloomfield, little bird, bald man, sean bishop.

Even though Andrio Abero has moved from Seattle to Brooklyn, he still keeps his fingers in the Seattle music scene. He recently did the CD packaging for Velella Velella’s “Fight Club” EP.
