Seattle artist Nick Beery (aka Beery Method) is putting up his new show at the Greenwood Collective this week. The show title is “Hobo Eaters: Agents of Chaos” and features his popular characters hand painted on wood panels. Nick’s work is really incredible so check this one out at the opening on Friday.
The Stimulus Package
March 4th, 2010 by Evan
Seattle super producer Jake One teamed up with rapper Freeway on the new release, The Stimulus Package. Freeway’s gruff voice commands you to listen and Jake’s production is top notch. The CD packaging is as strong as the music. The liner notes are huge dollar bills in a bank sleeve wrapped around the packaging like a big stack of money. After removing the sleeve and the bills you see the CD is inside a cardboard wallet, complete with a download credit card for the instrumental versions. This is by far the best CD packaging I’ve seen in 2010. Art Direction and Design is by Brent Rollins Design Explosion.

Walkman Notepad
February 24th, 2010 by Evan
This design looks so good - a notepad cover that resembles the classic 1979 Sony Walkman. I like how the bottom corners are cut to add dimension. Available from the Paper Tiger.

It was a beautiful day at Summit East on Saturday. I hadn’t been there since that massive avalanche came down that hill last January. You can see all the photos I took at the Holy Oly Revival on my Flickr page.

Top 3 Super Bowl 2010 Commercials
February 7th, 2010 by Evan
This year the biggest brands threw down 2-3 million for the chance to advertise on the Super Bowl. Between all the commercials featuring men’s underwear and 55 calorie light beer, these 3 were pretty entertaining.
Kia Sorento “Joyride” ad
In this commercial four life-size toy characters go on a road trip including Muno from Yo Gabba Gabba, a Sock Monkey, a Tin Robot and Blabla doll Mr. X. Just seeing a sock monkey flipping a jet ski and getting “MOM” knitted on his arm is worth checking it out. The song is “How You Like Me Now” by The Heavy.
Home Away “Hotel Hell Vacation” ad
Clueless travelers Clark and Ellen Griswald (aka Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo) reprise their role from 1983’s “National Lampoon’s Vacation” movie for this ad for Home Away, a vacation rental home website. This teaser ad was creative and made me want to see the extended short film on their site.
Google “Parisian Love” ad
This was a brilliantly simple concept that clearly showed how integrated Google has become into our everyday lives.
